Countdown to Climate Week NYC

7 September 2021, 12:09 UTC 2 min read

It is now just two weeks until Climate Week NYC (September 20-26) gets underway in New York and around the world.

We’re excited to announce that European Commission President, Dr Ursula von der Leyen will be addressing the Opening Ceremony (September 20), which is all about our theme for the week, Getting It Done.

We can also confirm the participation of Bill Gates, Founder, Breakthrough Energy; John Kerry, US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate Whitehouse, US Government; The Hon. Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister, Scottish Government; Inger Anderson, Executive Director, United National Environment Programme (UNEP); and Dr Faith Birol, Executive Director, International Energy Agency at the event ‘Getting it done: Critical moments in the Climate Decade and how to get there’ (September 21). Deb Haaland, US Secretary of Interior, US Department of the Interior, will be speaking at the event ‘Green Jobs in the Clean Energy Transition’ (September 22).

With so much at stake, especially in the wake of the IPCC report in August, Climate Week NYC is set to deliver some unmissable events and talks. Government officials, business leaders, civil society, and grassroots organisations will pull together to showcase climate action and discuss what we need to do in the Climate Decade.

Media registration is now open and free for the Opening Ceremony and The Hub Live events. Registration closes September 17, 2021.
