Global leaders driving environmental change to speak at Climate Week NYC 2021

1 June 2021, London – This World Environment Day, the Climate Group is delighted to announce the first wave of speakers at Climate Week NYC (September 20-26). Centered on the theme “Getting It Done”, The Hub Live will showcase a stellar lineup of global business and government leadership committed to a net zero pathway by 2050.

From September 21-23, the Climate Group will host The Hub Live, a series of 17 forums, discussions, and workshops that bring together the expertise and influence of public and private sectors. Hosted through an interactive online digital platform, the events will shine a spotlight on the clean energy revolution, the future of buildings, heavy industries, electric vehicles, finance, and food.

“The 2020s are the Climate Decade: we must halve emissions by 2030. We’ve run out of time for business as usual, as we need to transform rapidly, and at scale. That means the climate needs to be at the center of all decisions made by businesses and governments, which requires brave and bold leadership now. Let’s use the time we have left in the Climate Decade to close the gap between ambition and reality. Climate Week NYC is a vital moment to check in on the action that’s already happening, and inspire others to go much further.”

Helen Clarkson, CEO of Climate Group

The Hub Live speakers include Pia Heidenmark-Cook, Chief Sustainability Officer, Ingka Group (IKEA); Angela Hultberg, Road Transport Lead, COP26 Climate Champions; Korea Yang, Seung-Jo, Governor of Chungnam; and Monica Araya, Drive Electric campaigner, RouteZero partner and Distinguished Fellow at ClimateWorks Foundation

“We are past the moment of simply accelerating progress to net zero, today businesses and governments must scale the execution of global decarbonization. Climate Week NYC 2021 will be about how we bring the right levers together to enable action at speed and at scale.”

Mathias Lelievre, CEO, ENGIE Impact
