Commenting on the latest Climate Change Committee report, Helen Clarkson, CEO, Climate Group said: “The UK isn’t electrifying fast enough, and households and businesses are paying the price.
Companies looking for energy security and resilience will be investing where governments are backing electrification, smarter grids, storage, and a modern energy system led by renewables. We did a spot check among some of the companies we work with and a third of them are looking to up their investment in renewables. That investment will go to the markets that can facilitate that switch.
If the UK wants to compete as a smart electric economy, the next Prime Minister must lock in the progress that’s already underway, including critical electrification policies like the ZEV Mandate and a focus on grid updates.
Now is the time to produce the positive vision that rallies the nation around lower energy bills, secure jobs, and greater prosperity for all.”
- The Climate Change Committee will publish its ‘Progress in reducing emissions 2026 report to Parliament’ on 24 June 2026.
