About the project
Supported by UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions), the project will contribute to enhanced and sustained action on climate change, driving the necessary behavioural change and capabilities of subnational governments to reduce emissions in Colombia while promoting a sustainable economic recovery and aligning with the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
Project partners, OpEPA, the Climate Group and The Climate Reality Project Latin America will support the development of decarbonisation visions in Antioquia, Bogotá, Boyacá, Cundinamarca and Valle del Cauca - the five Colombian departments with the highest emissions in the energy and transport sectors. This will be delivered through theoretical and practical workshops, which will include an e-learning platform, live sessions and multimedia material.
- Strengthen the technical capacities of public officials in the departmental and municipal government offices to plan solutions that contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in alignment with Colombia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and the E2050 Long-Term Strategy for Climate Resilience.
- Build impactful local narratives for the promotion of a productive low-carbon economy for the benefit of local communities.
